You’ve just won the lottery, what’s the first thing you will buy?
I would buy a house!
Where in Mozambique did you grow up?
I grew up in small village in Ribáuè, a district of Nampula, with my mother who is a teacher, and my father who is a farmer. I have one brother and four sisters, so my parents had some cats, chickens and ducks.
What’s your most memorable childhood memory?
My favourite memory from my childhood is sitting with my father near to the bonfire and him telling me stories.
Who is your favourite music artist?
My favourite music artist is Akon. He is an African-American rapper. His songs made me learn English. I hope one day to meet him.

What would you like to be doing in 5 years time?
Acquire knowledge and skills of Mechanics, Electricity and Automation during the 8 months in the Field Ready programme. In addition, develop my personal skills and knowledge of HSE (Health and Safety Environment). After that, I want to become an excellent addition in the automation field and become a supervisor. I would like to participate in conferences and training related to my field.
What or who is your biggest inspiration?
My biggest inspiration is my father. He lost his job in 1998 because of the civil war in Mozambique. At this time, my mother was unemployed. He advised my mother to take a course she would love to sustain us, and she did. She became a teacher and supported us. My father always worried about our education. He impressed me because he was the first teacher of his children. We were all obliged to start at school after learning basic calculus and read small texts.
What is your biggest achievement to date?
I’m proud to have studied Chemical Engineering and confident in speaking English.
Finally, what is your most hated food?
I hate hamburgers!
